The economics

~4

Year payback can be achievable.

On a well-qualified project, Illinois incentive value, eligible utility rebates, available business tax benefits, and electric bill savings can combine to produce a simple payback near four years.

01

Illinois Shines REC value

Eligible systems can earn value for the renewable energy they produce, helping reduce the project's effective cost. Payment amount and timing depend on current program rules and the customer's contract.

02

Utility rebates

Qualifying Ameren projects may be eligible for a distributed-generation or smart-inverter rebate based on system size and utility requirements.

03

Commercial tax benefits

Some business-owned projects may qualify for federal clean electricity tax credits. Eligibility depends on ownership, project timing, labor requirements, equipment, and the customer's tax situation.

04

Long-term energy savings

Producing power on site can lower purchased electricity and reduce exposure to future utility-rate increases over the life of the system.
